Road closure impacting travel to the Hospice at Winsley:
The A36 Warminster Road is fully closed between Limpley Stoke and Monkton Combe until spring 2025 with the Limpley Stoke bridge closed on Saturday 2 & 9 November. Please plan ahead, follow the signed diversions, and leave plenty of time for your journeys. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
The National Highways share more information about the road closures here.
Many of our friends and neighbours will remember Lisa Wells. Lisa was a local mother to two young girls, who became an inspiration to thousands after she was diagnosed with incurable cancer in 2017.
Lisa's campaigning
Following her diagnosis, Lisa campaigned tirelessly to raise awareness, and motivated countless friends and admirers to raise funds for local charities. This group of supporters evolved into ‘Lisa’s Army’, a charity that now exists to offer support to those with cancer, and their families.
Dorothy House Hospice Care was honoured to care for Lisa at the end of her life, and to give support to her children and wider family following her death.
Fundraising pledge
Now, our two charities are coming together to help more children and teenagers facing the death of a parent, to cope with their loss and their grief. Over the next three years, Lisa’s Army have pledged donations of £2500 per year to support the work of our Children and Young People Service – this team currently supports over 100 local children every year, and the need for their help is rising.
Support for Dorothy House Hospice Care
Thanks to this generous commitment from Lisa’s Army, Dorothy House Hospice Care will be able to provide a wider range of activities, excursions and supportive experiences for those young people in need of our specialist help.
Huge thanks to Lisa’s Army for joining us in this exciting partnership, which we know will be absolutely invaluable for our local community.
