Become a Monthly Giver and help us to ensure that nobody in our community will have to face death alone

Your monthly gift can help patients and families that need help right now, and into the future.

The difference you can make is real, it is immediate and impactful, it is transformational for people across our communities that need help now, and for those that will need our help in years to come.

How your monthly donation supports the delivery of care

£10 a month could fund

a nurse’s time speaking on our 24hour Advice Line – reassuring, advising, and guiding patients, families, and health professionals.

£15 a month could fund

a compassionate, skilled and experienced Hospice at Home Carer to provide care overnight. Enabling a patient to stay at home at the end of their life.

£20 a month could fund

a full day or night shift for a specialist nurse working on our Inpatient Unit.

Adrian's story

My wife was diagnosed with a malignant soft tissue sarcoma in 2021. We thought it was going to be treatable, until we got to the stage where the chemo failed and radiotherapy wasn’t having the desired effect.

We were told it was going to be a terminal situation. My wife eventually passed away at the end of 2023.

Support from Dorothy House during and after Debbie's illness

Debbie's terminal diagnosis

When we were told it was terminal we had to prepare for the future. A future that neither of us had signed up for. My wife came into contact with Dorothy House. She wanted to stay at home for as long as possible. Dorothy House helped with all the sophisticated medical equipment that was needed. I don’t know what we would have done without Dorothy House to tell you the truth.

Bereavement support services

Dorothy House has continued to support me even now, all this time after Debbie’s death. I attend a regular bereavement walking group, and find it so beneficial – all of us who go do. Being able to spend time with people going through a similar experience is just invaluable. Having had a long relationship with Dorothy House in very difficult and emotional times, I must say I don’t know how we would have coped as a family without them, even the counselling for me as the main carer when Debbie was really poorly.

Fundraising for the Hospice

They provided an exceptional service on every level and we must ensure that their services are maintained and funded by long-term support, whether it is by regular monetary donations or sponsorship events.  I am hoping to take part in this year’s Skydive to raise money for the Hospice. The reason I wanted to tell my story is to help people understand just how important hospice care is to our community, to shine a light on the incredible people at Dorothy House.
