Dedicate a light on a Firefly in celebration of a loved one

Dedicating a light on a Firefly is a wonderful way to celebrate the life of a loved one and reflect through a time of remembrance. The Firefly lights are your space to visit whenever you wish. Both here in the woods at Winsley House, or via our 24-hour webcam, connecting you with our serene woodland space, alight with Fireflies wherever you are.

Bruce Munro

Bruce Munro gifted the Fireflies, a large-scale light art installation, for both Dorothy House and our community in 2021. His collection of individually handmade Fireflies – each one a constellation of separate small lights – leaves a big impact. There is something incredibly magical and profound about walking through the Firefly Woods. It is your space to remember and reflect, and to celebrate life.

The Fireflies are a beautiful way of giving, and they also give back to patients and their families in our community

If you choose to dedicate a light on a Firefly, we hope the Firefly Woods is a place of peace and comfort for you. We also hope that you take some solace in the knowledge that you are also supporting patients and families in our community that need our care.

People in our community like Sue, who has so kindly shared her story, she explains why dedicating a light has helped her through the darkest of times.

Sue’s daughter, Jo, spent her final days at Dorothy House, surrounded by our incredible team who she refers to as her ‘extended family’. For Sue, the Hospice and Firefly Woods continues to be her lifeline, helping her on her journey of healing.

We would like to thank you for your support. Your dedication helps us to continue to add life to days and to provide the best possible care to our patients and their families.
