Specialist palliative care
As experts in providing specialist palliative care, our staff include doctors, nurses, therapists, carers and counsellors and will see patients at home, in a clinic setting or in a care home. They work closely with GPs, community nursing teams, hospital staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure a high standard of care and support. We are regularly inspected by the Care Quality Commission.
Visiting and accompanying
We have reviewed visiting and accompanying guidance for our patients in line with Care Quality Commission Regulation 9A: Visiting and accompanying in care homes, hospitals and hospices.
Patients staying on our Inpatient Unit can receive visits from people they want to see. We encourage patients to attend any engagements that they may have out of the Hospice such as meals out, going to the pub, family parties or hospital appointments etc. with a family member, friend or advocate if the patient would like someone with them.
We encourage patients attending appointments to be accompanied by a family member, friend or advocate if the patient would like someone with them.
Referrals
Our services, described below, require a referral which can be made easily by any health and socialcare professional, by a person with a life-limiting illness (self-referral) or by a friend/family member of a person with a life-limiting illness. Please see Referrals for more information.
