We welcomed over 230 Santa’s and Elves back to Dorothy House and Winsley Cricket Club on the 3rd December in slightly less than ideal weather conditions as they took on the 2.5 & 5km course. It was so brilliant to have families of all shapes and sizes come and take part in what was a fantastically festive event!
Running the festive route
Once again, the brilliant Rachel Bown led everyone in a warm up to get the blood flowing before they set off around the course with festive cheer. Although the real weather included some rain, that didn’t stop everyone starting under a flurry of snow.
The route took them through the grounds of Dorothy House, visiting the Firefly Woods and past the Dorothy House Christmas Tree, lit the week before as part of our Light Up A Life services.
A huge thank you to our partners at Winsley Cricket Club, who hosted us again this year, and who without, we could not make such a success of the Santa and Elf Run. We’d also like to thank the team of brilliant volunteers who not only made the event run so smoothly, but did a fantastic job cheering on the Santa’s and Elves!
We were so thrilled to have ITV West Country News come along on the day, and we featured in the 6pm bulletin on ITV1 on Sunday evening. In addition, we also had a team of students from Bath Spa University who put together a video of the day, which you can watch below.
Give your-elves a cheer!
We are really pleased to say, that thanks to everyone who took part, we have raised a fantastic £14,000 to support the outstanding care we deliver here at the Hospice and across our Community Services.
