Local Hospice Lottery winner scoops £2000!

Last week, Frank Inman visited Dorothy House Hospice Care to pick up his Lottery winning cheque of £2000. Frank, who now lives in Coulsdon, Surrey, has been playing the Local Hospice Local Hospice Lottery winnerLottery for the last eight years.

“I started playing the lottery because when I lived locally, I received exemplary treatment from Dorothy House and used to visit the Day Patient unit regularly. Although I now live in Surrey and receive treatment at the Royal Marsden, I am very grateful for my care at Dorothy House.”

The Local Hospice Lottery winner, who was presented the cheque by Lynn Porch, our Day Hospice Community Lead, said he would spend part of the prize on buying a new mobile phone:

“My eyesight isn’t what it was and I need a bigger phone!”

How the Local Hospice Lottery supports Dorothy House

The Local Hospice Lottery was set up to provide financial support for adult and childrens’ hospices across Great Britain. It provides Dorothy House with regular income that helps us provide outstanding palliative care across 800sq miles. To date, players like Frank have helped us raise over £3 million for patient and family care.

“It was lovely to meet Frank and see how delighted he was to win the prize this month. We are really thankful to all of our Local Hospice Lottery players. The contribution they make towards patient care in our community is invaluable.” – Matt Goody, Fundraising Engagement Manager.

Dorothy House is one of many hospices throughout Great Britain supported by Local Hospice Lottery. This year, for every £1 entry, we receive an average of 68p. Over the next five years we expect to receive at least £2.5m from the lottery.
