Raise a cuppa for Dorothy House’s birthday with a coffee morning!
1 May marks the 48th Anniversary of Dorothy House and we’re asking supporters to host their own Dorothy House Birthday Coffee Morning in celebration of the occasion.
Dorothy House since 1976
Started by Prue Dufour in 1976 in Prue’s home on Bloomfield Road in Bath, the Hospice has been caring for the local community ever since. Over the years, the services we offer have expanded and changed to meet the needs of those we support, but our commitment to supporting those with a life-limiting illness and their families remains the same.
The community around us has repaid our commitment by raising funds to allow us to continue our work. Back in May of 1976, the very first donation of £2.65 was made to the charity.
But we continue to need that support, with the Hospice now costing £16 million a year to run. One fantastic way to support Dorothy House is by hosting your very own Coffee Morning. What better way to bring friends and family together than a cuppa and a slice of cake, whilst raising money to support outstanding care for your local community?
Hearing from our community about their Dorothy House Coffee Mornings
Jenny’s Dad was a patient with Dorothy House and she decided to hold an ‘Afternoon Tea at The Rovers’ on 9 April at Paulton Rovers Football Club near Bristol. The event was very successful and well supported, raising an incredible £945.49 for Dorothy House Hospice Care!
Our Corsham Friend’s Group recently hosted a Dorothy House Coffee Morning at the Royal British Legion, Corsham. As well as selling cakes, they hosted a chocolate themed raffle and sold other goodies too, raising a brilliant £700 for the Hospice.
Marion’s husband received end of life care at home, supported by Dorothy House:
“I was so grateful for all that Dorothy House did for him I have been raising money ever since”.
By holding two events, a Coffee Morning and a popular Pimms Party, Marion raised a wonderful £320 for the Hospice.

Why not invite your friends, family and colleagues to join you by baking, giving donations and raising a cuppa to Dorothy House whilst enjoying a slice of cake at your social event. You can hold a Coffee Morning (or other social event!) at home, in your workplace or even at school.
Your fundraising will support Dorothy House as we continue to deliver our work in our local community.
Recently our very own Dorothy House Fundraising Team had fun hosting an Easter themed Coffee Morning. Afterwards, they shared the cakes with the Inpatient Unit so our amazing nursing staff could enjoy a well-deserved cuppa and a delicious slice of cake!
