Fashionable collaboration

The fashion show is raising funds for 3 charities, Dorothy House and our partners Children’s Hospice South West and We Get It and the event will once again feature models connected to all three charities, with staff, volunteers and service users all getting involved.

Strength in Style’s reach goes far beyond fashion; it profiles three local charities, empowers individuals, highlights local businesses, and promotes sustainability. Moreover, by its collaborative nature, it unites different sectors of the local community and shows how powerful we can be when we work together with others for a common aim. In 2023, Strength in Style exemplified the spirit of community, compassion, and creativity, leaving a lasting impact on all those involved, and we can’t wait to hit the runway again this year!

We are excited to be partnering with local independent fashion retailers rather than the big chain stores as we want to showcase the unique fashion offering which exists within the city, and to support our local businesses. Our retailers – Blue, BoHo, Grace and Mabel and Portman are excited to be involved.

Strength in Style Fashion Show 2023 – what a night it was!

Last year, one of the most inspiring aspects of Strength in Style was the choice of models. Rather than relying on professional models, we invited members of the cancer community, and nurses and siblings from the Children’s Hospice South West to take the spotlight. This empowered those living with cancer and other life-threatening conditions and showed the strength and resilience of the individuals within these communities.

Sustainable fashion sourced from Dorothy House and Children’s Hospice South West

One of the sets in the show will focus on sustainable fashion with clothes sourced from local Dorothy House and Children’s Hospice South West charity shops. This way of shopping reduces waste and lessens the load on landfill while supporting our local charity shops and encouraging others to use them. And this sustainable set is also a fun way of challenging the notion that fashion has to be new and expensive. By highlighting the potential for unique and stylish fashion finds in charity shops, we are showcasing a creative way of marrying style with sustainability.

We will have refreshments, goodie bags and a magical evening! Grab your tickets now as this event sold out last year.
