Don’t miss the Midnight Walk early bird offer!
The Midnight Walk is returning for 2025 as hospices, including Dorothy House, are facing unprecedented financial challenges across the UK. That is why the Hospice is asking the local community to come together and take on this fantastic fundraising event full of walking, talking and dancing, in Bath on Saturday, 5 July.
What happens at the Midnight Walk 2025?
The Midnight Walk is for anyone aged 12+ and starts at the Bath Pavilion. Arrival is from 9pm, with time to enjoy drinks, food, fun and funky warm-up with Cheryl Sprinkler from Mojo Moves. Those taking on the 10K walk will set off at 10.30pm, followed by the 5K walkers who will head out at 10.45pm, enjoying the sights of Bath on a wonderful summer night!
As well as a fantastic atmosphere, the event includes a free drink upon arrival, stalls; like an environmentally friendly face paint bar and a photo booth, a fully marshalled 5K or 10K walk, and a DJ bringing in the party vibes!
Join the pyjama party!
This year’s theme is all about pyjamas – it will be the biggest PJ party in town! The Hospice is looking for people to get into the bedtime spirit by snuggling into their own pyjamas, onesies or dressing gowns. Alternatively, walkers are encouraged to upcycle some gorgeous nightwear from one of our Dorothy House shops!
All the walkers will be back at Bath Pavilion from midnight. Each participant will receive a special hand-made medal and will go home happy and delighted at what they’ve achieved by 1am!
Why fundraise for Dorothy House?
Hospices are facing unprecedented financial challenges across the UK. Rising costs, a National Insurance hike and stagnant government funding, which only covers 20% of our total costs, are putting huge pressure on our financial sustainability. Over the past three years, the cost of running the Hospice has risen from £46,000 a day to £52,000 a day.
Fundraising through the Midnight Walk will help fund Dorothy House’s Hospice at Home Carers. Our experienced Hospice at Home Carers support patients and their families, keeping the patient as comfortable as possible within a familiar setting.
David’s wife Debbie, was cared for by our Hospice at Home team, providing comfort and support in the familiarity of their home. On the day of their 33rd wedding anniversary, Debbie and David were told she had two incurable tumours on her brain. Debbie was given a prognosis of only weeks.
Without Hospice at Home we would have been lost as a family. It’s an incredible organisation, full of amazing people. The carers that visited us conducted themselves with such love. They offered practical help and guided and prepared us in a gentle way. Sometimes when they came to visit Debbie was asleep, so they’d sit and talk with me in the garden. Receiving care at home meant we could fill the house with friends and family.
Showing solidarity with carers
In the UK there are 5.8 million unpaid carers providing care to their loved ones, with over 59% of those being women, and so part of the message behind this year’s Midnight Walk is to show solidarity to all those unpaid carers in our community. Unpaid carers work hand-in-hand with the Dorothy House team, including Hospice at Home Carers, and the Hospice prides itself on being able to provide support to the whole family.
How to get involved in the Midnight Walk 2025
The Hospice is asking each walker to aim to raise a minimum of £50, which could fund two hours of overnight care, provided by one of the charity’s compassionate, skilled and experienced Hospice at Home carers. And, if anyone raises over £100, they will be entered into a draw to win a cream tea and bottle of prosecco!
Entry for the Midnight Walk 2025 is £22, with an Early Bird entry of £17.50 running until Tuesday 1 April, so be quick!
