Zipping good fun
The donations are still coming in, but after three days of zippers hurtling their way down our 150 foot high Bath City Zipline, it’s time to say a huge thank you.
Hair-raising fundraising
Taking place from Friday 28 February until Sunday 2 March, on the lower lawn of the Royal Crescent, this first of its kind event for Bath was blessed with glorious blue skies and sunshine.
Situated right in front of the iconic Royal Crescent, Dorothy House Hospice Care’s Zipline offered supporters the chance to take on a a fear of heights and challenge themselves to raise vital income for specialist end of life care across the city and beyond.
A total of 350 zippers took part, with many families turning up on the day to have a go, visit our retail pop up shop, stock up on Ubiety products or simply to watch in wonder at loved ones and strangers alike, soaring through the blue sky to land in front of the the historic No1 Royal Crescent. Thanks to you we raised £2041 just through our pop up shop!
Together in Adversity – keep your donations coming in
Dorothy House’s mission is to ensure that everyone has access to outstanding palliative and end of life care, and this mission cannot be achieved without the support of the local community. Bringing innovative fundraising events such as the Bath City Zipline to our community is vital to ensure we can be here for more families in need.
We are facing huge adversity – rising costs, a National Insurance hike, as well as stagnant government funding which only covers 20% of our total costs. Over the past three years, running the Hospice has risen from £46,000 a day to £52,000 a day. Despite our best fundraising efforts and innovation, this has all combined to leave us with a critical funding shortfall.
If you zipped but are yet to chase your supporters for donations, now is the time!
You can see how close we are to our fundraising target by clicking the link here. We cannot wait to count up all the donations and share how much we raised from the Bath City Zipline, next week.

- Our sponsor, Pass The Keys Bath (Bath Property Management Company for Airbnb Hosts | Pass the Keys™), and their owner, Chris Hardwicke
