Terrific trekkers return home from Vietnam!

Our terrific trekkers return home from Vietnam having completed their 10-day trip, supporting a health clinic in No Phon Village, Mai Chau and then taking on a 5 day trek in Pù Luông Nature Reserve.

The group set off from Dorothy House in Winsley on Saturday 20 April, heading for Heathrow, flying off to Hanoi.

Learning new skills and working to support local community projects

After a brief stay in Hanoi to experience a tiny amount of what the city has to offer, the group headed off to Mai Chau to meet the wonderful team from a local health clinic where they were tasked with building a wall to keep the clinic secure (and keep cows out!).

‘I really enjoyed my time working on the project, it was great to learn new skills like how to build a wall, and I met some of the most amazing people!’ Angela Walker

After a brilliant two days at the project, the team travelled to Pù Luông Nature Reserve to begin a 5 day trek across jungle.

The trek was definitely a challenge, but that made it all the more rewarding. The scenery was beautiful and varied – walking through villages and seeing children, puppies and chickens was just as interesting as when we were scaling tricky terrain through the jungle! The local guides really made the trip – Sunny and Trah were with us the whole way keeping us going, and the sense of comradery was amazing!’ Rhiannon Eveleigh

Trekkers have raised an incredible £91,000

The team, to date, have raised an incredible £91,000 (and counting!) to support palliative and end of life care at the Hospice and within the community across Bath and North East Somerset and parts of Somerset and Wiltshire. We are so grateful for all their incredible hard work and fundraising effort!

Thank you to our 23 amazing trekkers!

A huge thank you to our partners at Different Travel and to the wonderful 23 trekkers that took on this huge challenge!

‘There were points at which everyone found the trip challenging, be it due to the bugs, sleep, heat or terrain, but the best thing about the whole trek was meeting a group of people all working hard towards a common purpose – raising money for Dorothy House. If you want to go on a real adventure whilst giving back to your community, what better way than a trek like this? I would do it again in a heartbeat!’ Rhiannon Eveleigh
