Christmas Tree Collection 2025

We're back for 2025!

In partnership with national charity, Just Helping, our Christmas Tree Collection is back in 2025 for its 9th year running!

The Dorothy House Christmas Tree Collection has been running since 2017, and in those eight years of collecting, we have raised an incredible £370,000 for the hospice!

We’ll be collecting trees from Friday 10 January until Sunday 12 January

We will be collecting trees from Friday, January 10, 2025 until Sunday, January 12, 2025. Registrations close on Monday, January 6, 2025 at midnight. We cannot take further registrations after this date.

Trees are being collected in: BA1, BA2, BA3, BA4, BA11, BA12, BA13, BA14, BA15, SN11, SN12, SN13, SN14, SN15, SN16, BS31, BS39 and BS40. Please note, this list includes Chew Valley, which is a new collection area for 2025.

Donating your tree is a win-win situation!

Your tree is collected from your doorstep

This means you can avoid getting pine needles in the car, and save time and fuel costs by not queueing at the tip.

It's run by our incredible volunteers!

We galvanise our incredible team of volunteers who give up their time and lend their vehicles to collect trees. They really are amazing and we couldn’t do it without them!

Your tree is responsibly recycled

Every tree is responsibly recycled, saving tons of carbon from our atmosphere! Fun Fact: A 2 metre real Christmas tree with no roots has a carbon footprint of 16kg CO2e if it ends up in landfill. We collected over 5,500 trees in January 2024…that’s a lot of carbon reduction!

Supporting agricultural spaces and parks across the community

We partner with wood chipping companies who donate their equipment and time to chip the trees. Wood chippings are used over agricultural spaces, gardens and public parks across our wonderful community. Some trees do get used as shelter and layering for farming animals too.

Positive environmental impact

In 2024, we used our chippings to create pathways for our brand new nature trail, as well as mulch for the ground around our firefly installation. Wood chippings often suppress weeds and reduces the need for weed killer.

Your donation supports our care delivery

Finally, all the generous donations received support the vital work of Dorothy House, enabling us to continue to support patients and their families.

Please ensure your tree is visible and accessible on collection

Your tree will be collected by our wonderful volunteers. As we are unable to specify a collection date or time, we ask that you ensure your tree is left in a clearly visible, accessible and unobstructed location outside your property by 8am on Friday, January 10, 2025.

Our volunteers are unable, under any circumstance to enter your property (i.e. a house, shed, back garden). If we cannot see your tree, we will leave a calling card to let you know we have visited. If your tree is larger than 6ft, please ensure you state this when registering, and if there is more than one tree to be collected, we ask that your donation reflects this.

Pennys Group - Support for our 2024 Collection

“Pennys Group were delighted to be able to assist Dorothy House with their collection operations. We recognise the importance of Dorothy House to so many local individuals and families and that the services they provide would not be possible without fundraising events like this. This is our first year working with Dorothy House and I am sure it is just the start of more fundraising support to come!” – George Worle – Waste & Recycling Manager, Pennys Group Ltd
